a perfect gray

I'm not sure what the acceptable time is for one to declare they are 'over it' but we reached that tonight with regards our renovation. And we're not even living on site! But because of that we need to schlep all the wallpaper books (one of today's was around 10kg, I swear) and tile samples around to the house and wade through a chasm of timber and work benches and general muckery. And two little children too, who find the time, energy and fervid inclination to scrap when we least need it. And when I think I've found a great wallpaper, he disses it. I swear I've done a crash course in wallcoverings - I now know of a world of wallpaper much larger than I ever imagined. I've waded through retail stores, trade showrooms and websites, and looked through untold wallpaper books. I am exhausted.

So it was pretty timely to see photos of Brooke Shield's apartment at Architectural Digest - isn't it the most perfect mid-toned gray? The entire apartment is stunning. Between Benjamin Moore's Chelsea Gray, which is what is featured in Shield's apartment, and a soft pale grey I am seriously considering abandoning my search for wallpaper.

Could this be a sign?

P.S. Donna, author of A Perfect Gray, gives her top picks on gray paint colours. A very handy reference.

  3. Funny - re-reading this after your comment, it's ironic that this very minute our paperhanger is hanging Schumacher sisal wallpaper in our lounge - so much for abandonment!
